Description

A creamy, cheesy twist on classic Swedish meatballs, this baked pasta dish combines tender meatballs, rich gravy sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta topped with melted cheese for the ultimate comfort meal.

 


Ingredients

  • Ground beef

  • Breadcrumbs

  • Egg

  • Garlic powder

  • Onion powder

  • Salt and black pepper

  • Butter

  • All-purpose flour

  • Beef broth

  • Heavy cream

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • Dijon mustard

  • Pasta (penne or fusilli)

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

  2. In a bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into meatballs.

  3. Heat butter in a skillet and cook meatballs until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  4. In the same skillet, add butter and flour to make a roux. Slowly whisk in beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer until thickened.

  5. Combine pasta, meatballs, and gravy sauce in a large baking dish. Mix gently to coat evenly.

  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

You can add sautéed mushrooms or caramelized onions for extra flavor. Leftovers can be reheated and make a great next-day lunch.
