A bold and comforting twist on a pasta classic – this spaghetti and sausage combo is rich, saucy, and loaded with flavor. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner that feels like a hug from Nonna!

 


Ingredients

For the pasta:

  • Spaghetti 🍝

  • Italian sausage (sliced or crumbled) 🌭

  • Onion (diced) 🧅

  • Garlic (minced) 🧄

  • Crushed tomatoes or marinara sauce 🍅

  • Olive oil 🫒

  • Italian seasoning 🌿

  • Red pepper flakes (optional) 🌶️

  • Salt & pepper

Optional toppings:

  • Fresh basil or parsley 🌱

  • Grated parmesan cheese 🧀


Instructions

  • Cook spaghetti until al dente, then drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil and cook sausage until browned. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.

  • Stir in crushed tomatoes and season with Italian herbs, salt, pepper, and chili flakes if using. Simmer until thick and flavorful.

  • Toss in the cooked spaghetti and stir until fully coated in sauce.

  • Serve hot with fresh herbs and a generous sprinkle of parmesan.

Notes

Use spicy sausage for extra heat or sweet sausage for a milder taste. Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach to pack in veggies. Tastes even better the next day!
