Description

There’s nothing better than crispy toasted bread topped with garlicky butter, melted cheese, and fresh tomato slices. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack, this toast delivers bold flavors with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or artisan bread)

  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced or grated)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or mozzarella-cheddar mix)

  • 2 medium tomatoes (thinly sliced)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning

  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic to create garlic butter.

  • Lightly toast bread slices until slightly crisp.

  • Spread garlic butter evenly over each slice.

  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the buttered bread.

  • Arrange tomato slices over the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and oregano.

  • Place slices on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • For a golden finish, broil for the last 1–2 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat tomato slices dry before adding to prevent sogginess.

  • Use whole-grain or gluten-free bread for a healthier or gluten-free option.

  • Add toppings like olives, caramelized onions, or chili flakes for variety
