Ingredients
-
4 slices of bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or artisan bread)
-
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
-
2 cloves garlic (finely minced or grated)
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or mozzarella-cheddar mix)
-
2 medium tomatoes (thinly sliced)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
-
Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic to create garlic butter.
-
Lightly toast bread slices until slightly crisp.
-
Spread garlic butter evenly over each slice.
-
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the buttered bread.
-
Arrange tomato slices over the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
-
Place slices on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
For a golden finish, broil for the last 1–2 minutes.
-
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve warm.
Notes
-
Pat tomato slices dry before adding to prevent sogginess.
-
Use whole-grain or gluten-free bread for a healthier or gluten-free option.
