Description

This easy Italian sausage and peppers recipe features seared sausage, sautéed bell peppers, and caramelized onions in one skillet. It’s fast, flavorful, and perfect for pasta, sandwiches, or low-carb meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage links (sweet or hot)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: ½ cup crushed tomatoes or 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • Optional: Fresh parsley or basil for garnish


Instructions

  • Heat oil in skillet. Brown sausages 7–8 minutes; remove and slice.

  • In same pan, sauté peppers and onions for 8–10 minutes until soft.

  • Add garlic, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 minutes.

  • Return sausage to pan. Add tomatoes if using. Simmer 5–10 minutes.

  • Garnish with herbs and serve hot.
