This easy Italian sausage and peppers recipe features seared sausage, sautéed bell peppers, and caramelized onions in one skillet. It’s fast, flavorful, and perfect for pasta, sandwiches, or low-carb meals.
Ingredients

1 lb Italian sausage links (sweet or hot)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 large onion, sliced

3 garlic cloves, minced

½ tsp Italian seasoning

¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: ½ cup crushed tomatoes or 1 tbsp tomato paste

Optional: Fresh parsley or basil for garnish
Instructions

Heat oil in skillet. Brown sausages 7–8 minutes; remove and slice.

In same pan, sauté peppers and onions for 8–10 minutes until soft.

Add garlic, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 minutes.

Return sausage to pan. Add tomatoes if using. Simmer 5–10 minutes.

Garnish with herbs and serve hot.
