Description

Few things are more comforting than a homemade pizza fresh from the oven, and this creamy pizza with white sauce, mushrooms, spinach, and olives is a true crowd-pleaser. Instead of the usual tomato base, this recipe uses a velvety white sauce that brings out a rich, indulgent flavor, perfectly complementing earthy mushrooms, tender spinach, and briny olives. It’s the perfect pizza for a cozy night in, a weekend family dinner, or even as a centerpiece for a casual get-together with friends.


Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (homemade or store-bought, about 12-inch)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ cups whole milk

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves

  • ½ cup black olives, sliced

  • Fresh basil, for garnish


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.

  • In a saucepan, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Whisk in flour to create a roux and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Set aside to cool slightly.

  • Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface to a 12-inch round. Transfer to parchment paper.

  • Spread the white sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese.

  • Add mushrooms, spinach, and olives evenly over the pizza. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

  • Carefully slide the pizza onto the hot stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  • Remove from oven, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and serve hot.
