Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade)

1/4 cup tomato sauce or water

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 taco shells (hard or soft, your choice)

Instructions

Heat a skillet over medium heat. If your beef is very lean, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.

Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds, then add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 6–8 minutes.

Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce or water. Let simmer for 3–4 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

While the beef simmers, warm taco shells according to package instructions.
