Description

Slow-cooked bourbon chicken with a sticky, sweet, and savory sauce. Tender, juicy chicken thighs simmered in a flavorful bourbon glaze that tastes just like takeout—only better.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into chunks

  • ½ cup bourbon whiskey

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp cold water (for slurry)

  • Garnish: green onions, sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Place chicken in crock pot.

  2. In a bowl, mix bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and pepper flakes.

  3. Pour sauce over chicken. Stir to coat.

  4. Cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 2½–3½ hours.

  5. In last 30 minutes, stir in cornstarch slurry. Let sauce thicken.

  6. Garnish and serve over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Sub apple juice for bourbon for non-alcoholic version.

  • Add pineapple or veggies for variation.

  • Stores well for meal prep or freezing.
