Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (or vegetable oil)

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce (optional for heat)

  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)

  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 1 head butter lettuce or romaine, leaves separated and washed

Optional Toppings:

  • Shredded carrots

  • Chopped peanuts or cashews

  • Extra green onions

  • Cilantro

  • Lime wedges


Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbled, about 5–7 minutes.

  • Add garlic and ginger. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sriracha (if using), and brown sugar. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened.

  • Add chopped water chestnuts and green onions. Cook for another minute to combine.

  • Spoon the beef mixture into lettuce leaves. Top with your favorite toppings and serve immediately
